WEB BASED PAYROLL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR GOORYONG LANKA (Pvt) Ltd

Abstract

Gooryong Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. is a South Korean Company established in Sri Lanka with Board of Investment ( BOI ) approval within the Export Promotion Zone (EPZ ) for the manufacture and export of Polyester Padding and Quilting, with its Product categorized as Garment Accessories Though the Company has imported and installed modern machinery, it s dependence on a manual Payroll processing system resulted in inaccuracies, wastage of time, energy and lacked the ability in arriving at quick management decisions relating to overall supervision and also stem the lack of trust and dissatisfaction among staff leading to labour and HR problems hindered it s ability to match the progress the Company had set itself. Therefore the desire of the Company was for a comprehensive Database system that would eliminate all such difficulties and assist the process of proper management of the staff necessary in attaining the progress targeted for the Company. For this purpose a Web based system was decided to be the best, with ease of access ability from any environment facilitating complete management control. This system was therefore developed using modern open sourced tools and software with PHP as a powerful server side scripting language, Apache web server and MySOL as a rational database management system The system developed has also been thoroughly tested in respect of all aspects utilizing a well adopted method resulting in a high quality web based payroll system before it was made available for familiarization and further testing by those who would finally be involved in it s operation. Ultimately the system having met all requirements was successfully handed over to the management of the Company for beneficial use.
