Issue Date: 16-May-2015
Abstract: OpenArc School of Business and Technology is one of the authorized test centers in Sri Lanka for conducting international Computer Driving License Program. Thus it was identified that the OpenArc School of Business and Technology can save a great deal of time and effort by having their own management system to maintain candidate details and their results of examinations and assessments and to effectively generate the management and audit reports according to the ICDL audit requirements. The Goal of this project is to develop a highly available solution for the current problems faced by the management and the members. The proposed system has been developed to cater all the needs such as managing Candidate enrolments and skills card assignment, monitoring and managing available skills cards, scheduling and conducting Candidate examinations, managing Candidate marks, alerting the status of Candidates according to their remaining attempts, procuring Skills cards, issuing certificates and analysis and reporting. This system has been designed using Object Oriented Analysis and Design methodology. PHP language has been chosen as the development technology with the support of latest open source software, which makes the system highly reliable and maintainable. MySQL has been used as the database management system. Apache web server has been used as the processing server. The system has been constructed according to the Model View Controller (MVC) architecture and Object Oriented techniques. The system has been subjected to a comprehensive testing process, which included unit testing, integration testing, system testing and acceptance testing. The system was able to successfully automate the ICDL programme and end user functionalities as expected by the client. A positive customer feedback was provided by the client at the end of the project.
