Authors: Dasanayake, D.M.G.K.
Issue Date: 16-May-2015
Abstract: Hotel Chatumadura is a rapidly improving hotel situated in Gampaha district. They do not have any computerized system to handle their day-to-day transactions. They do all their process in a manual file based system. Because of that, the administration is facing problems of a manual system like data redundancy, data inaccuracy and delay in decision making due to unavailability of timely reports and information. Reservations can be done using phone calls or by visiting the hotel booking office. The current system manually manages the reservation details, guest details, room details etc. It is very hard to update old reservation details by using this manual system. Because the officers need to find the particular reservation file for the specified reservation. It is a very time consuming and inefficient procedure. This new computer based system manages daily transactions by an automated process. Room rates, food prices and service prices are handled by the system and total prices are automatically calculated for the user selections. This system will provide a variety of reports to the top level management to get their decisions easily. The system uses Model View Controller (MVC) architecture and Object Oriented techniques. Unified Modeling Language (UML) was used for analysis and design. Coding was done using the JAVA programming language and MySQL was used to handle the database. The Hotel Management System has been designed to fulfill the user and system requirements. The system would assist the management of Hotel Chatumadura to monitor and manage the processes. It could also help employees from cashier up to management to work efficiently and enable profit maximization through this newly introduced Hotel Management System.
