Abstract:  Meera Travels is one of the major transport organization which is managing public transport between major cities in Sri Lanka. Currently they provide booking facility to people through their office located in Chunnakam town and their agents like shops around the country. The Online Ticket Booking System for Meera Travels is to provide passengers to view available buses to their destination & Make booking from their places, pay through online with their Credit/Debit cards, ez-cash, and through online banking facility. It helps avoid the problems such as misunderstanding about amenities available on each bus, two or more persons book for a particular seat in a bus and unable to compare prices within the buses. With the help of this online system Meera Travels can able to maintain their relationship with their passengers, agents and bus owners through this online system and they are able to maintain their day to day activities such as calculating income and expenditure details, maintaining bus routes, snacks and travelling activities. New users can register with this system and login with their registered user Name & Password. Also users can search for the bus service for their destination, select their preference seat, order snacks and confirm booking through this system. Meera Travel administration can manage their records and make customize reports. The booking agents and bus owners can manage their daily and monthly booking status including their transaction. The system is developed according to the Object Oriented Architecture. Unified Modeling Language is also used in the Analysis & Design stages. The system is fully developed using Open Source Tools. PHP & MySQL are used to build the system. Hyper Text Markup Language, Cascading Style Sheet, JavaScript also used for designing and validation. At the end of this project that met the requirements of the client and successfully implemented in the working environment.
