Web Based Tea Leaves Collection Centre Management System for Wijewantha Dealers

Abstract

Wijewantha Dealers is a reputed tea leaves collector in Galle district. They have been operating in the tea leaves collection industry for over 10 years. Even so, it does not have a proper computer based system to handle their office processes and all the office processes are doing with the manual file system. Due to manual file system, Wijewantha Dealers has faced lot of issues like data redundancy, data inaccuracy and delay in payment to the growers due to unavailability of timely reports and information. In order to overcome these problems, Wijewantha Dealers has decided to automate tea leaves collection centre management mechanism by adopting Web Based Tea Leaves Collection Centre Management System. This solution is built to provide an overall solution to manage the day-to-day processes related to the tea leaves collection centre such as Purchase and Sales Management, Inventory Management, Expenses Management, Human Resources Management and Report Generation. The system has adapted Model View Controller (MVC) architecture and Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts. In addition, Unified Modelling Language (UML) has been used for analysis and design, Java EE to build the system, MySQL to handle the database and Apache Tomcat as the web server. The Web Based Tea Leaves Collection Centre Management System would assist the management of Wijewantha Dealers to make accurate decisions by providing accurate and well documented reports. It could also help the management to work efficiently and enable profit maximization through this newly introduced web based management system. At the present, Construction phase of the system is in progress.
