Authors: Bannah, A.N.H.
Issue Date: 16-May-2015
Abstract: Western Palace which is situated in the city of Puttalam, is a newly established hotel to cater guests from both locally and internationally. It provides facilities for accommodation and tour arrangements etc. The hotel is as new as a newly born baby to this industry and it has to strive hard to withstand the forthcoming challenges to survive in this industry. They are hopefully expecting to popularize their hotel through a website but it is a pity that they lack knowledge on the other benefits of an automated system. Currently they are struggling with the manual system to manage their daily tasks in a systematic manner with no proper way of generating timely reports and statistics. Now they are in a position to adopt the web based management system to carry out their management tasks efficiently and effectively. The web based hotel management system is built as a solution to compensate and overcome the above mentioned problems encountered in the current manual system. It encompasses, Online Room Reservations, Online Tour Reservation, Staff Details Management, Inventory Control Management, House Keeping Management, Control Panel Management, Overheads Management and Report Generation. This system is built using Object Oriented Technique. The System uses PHP, which is a server-side scripting language and Apache has been used as the web server. Besides, Unified Modeling Language (UML) was used for Analysis and Design. MySQL was used to handle databases. This web based Hotel Management System could back the accomplishment of user requirements and it could also help the administration to work efficiently and enable profit maximization.
