Abstract: Udayandaluwa Sarvodaya Sramadana Society which is operating in the Halawatha District has been established in the year 2005. The main objective of the society was to uplift the socio economic condition of the people. With a view to achieve this objective they carry out several activities. Granting of Loans and undertaking of Deposits was a major activity. Inability to maintain an updated system of records about the financial transactions of the society members was a major problem faced by Udayandaluwa Sarvodaya Sramadana Society. They recorded all the transactions manually because of which the staff could not update the financial transactions of their members properly, in turn this affected in carrying out a proper upto date accounting system. One of the core objectives of the project was to provide efficient and accurate Micro Bank Financial Accounting System to automate the process of accounting and generate efficient and accurate management information. The new system has helped them to streamline the flow of accounting because of which they have been able to maintain an accurate, updated an efficient system of accounting and maintain an upto date system of member information. By this system member's Loan Ledger, Deposit Ledger and the Society Cashbook transactions etc. have been automated. Therefore, Financial Accounts viz. General Ledger, Trial Balance, Income and Expenditure account are generated based on those transactions. The Micro Bank Financial Accounting System which is now being used by Udayandaluwa Sarvodaya Sramadana Society is a standalone system which was developed using Visual Studio 2008 as the IDE and MySql server as the database server. Coding was done by Visual Basic Programming language and the .Net frame work. This Micro Bank Financial Accounting System which was implemented, tested and installed was designed to fulfill the requirements of an Accounting System to enable the user to carry out their work successfully.
