Abstract: Sidney's Fashion House is a medium scale garment factory which was started in 1990s. It is one of the factories in the Gampaha district, which plays a remarkable role in producing shirts for men. Fashion House take up orders from number of leading brand dealers in the local market. They have a capacity of around 25,000 shirts per year and has a work force of around 30 members. Until very recently the factory has been working with a manual file system. As a result, the management has faced a number of problems including data redundancy, inconsistency and unavailability of timely reports. Web based Production Management System (PMS) has been designed to overcome some of the problems in the current system. The system was be developed in a way to address production related managerial operations such as, order management, production scheduling, cost estimation, stock control, quality control and report generation. Unified Modeling Language(UML) has been used for analysis and design of the system. Hypertext Pre-Processor (PHP) which is a server side scripting language has been used for the implementation of the system along with its Object Oriented Techniques. Apache has been used as the web server, and MySQL has been used as the database management system. The system is portable. Since this could work either in Windows or Linux environment. This system has been designed to achieve user requirements specified by the Fashion House. This will help the management of the Fashion House to monitor and control their factory process efficiently and effectively.
