Abstract: Bakeries today are becoming more and more advanced and demands on bakery services are increasing. Hence Ishara Bake House (PVT) Ltd is a highly reputed bakery; it is poised to significant expansion and is expected to provide a number of services with high quality, energy efficiency and convenience. With the prevailing manual system, the company process and achieving significant efficiencies are limited to a very narrow context. These problems implied for the need for an automated web based solution. The proposed system was developed to handle main aspects of the bakery operations including stock levels, sales, order processing, billing, payments and report generation. Furthermore real time notifications such as SMS and emails have been automated via the system to inform the relevant users in an instant of a relevant occurrence of pre-specified functions. The bakery will be contributed to meet regular demands; which in turn will help to produce documented, timely tracked and traced information with the help of the developed system. Ultimately, the proposed system will result in resource optimization, eliminating or reducing hand written reporting and improving the efficiency of the entire business process. The system was developed with the aid of the process framework ?Rational Unified Process (RUP)?. Unified Modeling Language (UML) was used during system analysis and design phases for visualizing the proposed system in multiple dimensions. The server side scripting language which was chosen to develop the system was PHP, which is a free and open source scripting language. Hence the proposed system is web based, Apache web server was chosen as the server and MySQL was chosen for database management. JQuery the JavaScript library has been used for data manipulation purposes and for client side validations. Moreover a WYSIWYG editor Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 was chosen as the development tool. After introducing the developed system to the business, it is expected that it would carry the business to the expected goal eliminating all the drawbacks of the ordinary obsolete manual system.
