Issue Date: 16-May-2015
Abstract: Kithul kanda is a hotel located in Padukka, only about half hour from Colombo. The hotel expects to give the customers a better service, to accommodate more guests & give a lifetime experience as a rising hotel. The hotel is also capable of accommodating more than fifty guests at once and banquet halls have the capacity of seating three hundred guests at once. Also they deliver food items to different places according to the customer requirement. Since this hotel is newly opened, all the work is done by manually and this has caused certain unexpected problems, complications, and several complains from the customers. The management could not get a proper knowledge about the sales and profit of the business. My final year project is developing a hotel management system to this hotel as a solution to overcome the above mentioned problems faced by the current manual system. The clients main requirement is a usable effective management system including an online reservation system, user management system, Food and beverages operations, Room status, check-in /check-out transactions Banquet operations handling, content management system generating reports. The system also gives the ability to handle all the rates details, transaction details and report details. According to the client requirements the main problem is reserving rooms, handling all the transactions and generating reports. From the above scope of my project all the critical and favorable problems can be solved. The system uses Hypertext Pre-Processor (PHP) which is a server-side scripting language was used to build the system while MySQL (my structured query language) was used to implement the database. Apache, MySQL, php and Perl a cross platform server (XAMPP) was used to develop the system. The system has been accepted by the user ensuring the requirement specifications are met. The new system has been developed to overcome the existing problems and it will help the administration to make the Kithul Kanda Hotel Management processes much more effective, efficient and competitive.
