Abstract: Posturetop International (Pvt) Ltd. is a private company established in Sri Lanka which provides consulting and engineering services for government projects carried out in order to uplift the heritage of Sri Lanka. As an extension to the current business Posturetop wishes to initiate a travelling aid system based on the tourism related to irrigation in Sri Lanka. As an initiative to this idea they hope to develop an Online Travel Guide System which guide the tourists in their journey through Sri Lankan irrigational works from A to Z. Therefore I carry out this project to build up an online system which facilitates the needs of the tourist as per the concern of Posturetop. The system operates as a platform where users and service providers meet and carry on the transactions. As the system is web-based, any person is able to login to a system as a user and initiate planning his/her trip around irrigational works in Sri Lanka from selecting the destination to bookings and finalizing payments. Any service provider can register in the system as a registered service provider under the specific category and market their services earning a profit. Updating availability, updating users about the availability through SMS, online booking, online payments are some of the key features of the system. This can be considered as a good marketing device for Posturetop by earning a profit through holding the system and at the same time will be a National Level development to promote the tourism in Sri Lanka. The system is based on client server architecture and also Object Oriented techniques were used. In the analysis and design stages of the system, Unified Modelling Language was used. The project was developed using NetBeans IDE 7.4 in the Windows environment. Apache is used as the Web server of the system. The report includes an introduction to the project elaborates the work carried out in Analysis, Designing phases of the project.
