Library Management System for Panadura Balika Maha Vidyalaya

Abstract

The library is a large source of the knowledge in a school atmosphere. Students want an accurate service and the librarian can be able to handle the library transaction easily. The aim of this project is to develop an integrated Library Management System to Panadura Balika Maha Vidyalaya which is one of the preeminent government schools. The library of Panadura Balika Maha Vidyalaya was handling their library administrations manually. The librarian wants to handle each task manually. It is inefficient and more time consuming to handle large scale of transactions using manual paper based system. Therefore with this project my objective is to develop Library Management System to manage day- to- day library transactions more conveniently and effectively and also provide more accurate service to library members. The proposed system will mainly focus on basic operations in a library like adding new member, adding new book and updating new information, searching books and members and facility to borrow and return books. Furthermore the system will also provide process for calculating fines for late returns automatically. The proposed Library Management System will be developed using PHP (Hypertext Pre-processor) as sever side scripting language, Apache as web server, Macromedia Dreamweaver as IDE, MySQL to handle databases and HTML and JavaScript for client side language.
