Authors: Sivapathasuntharam, T.
Issue Date: 16-May-2015
Abstract: In the existing Leave Management System of Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka, Jaffna follows manual procedure in which VTC enters information in an attendance record book. At the end of each month/session, Administration calculates leave of every member which is a time taking process. Furthermore, the staffs need to fill a leave application form and submit it manually to their district Office. Consequently, there are chances of losing data or errors in the records and this increases the paperwork and maintaining the records becomes tedious. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a Leave Management System for Vocational training authority Jaffna branch to upgrade their current leave application and record which is manually processing. Therefore, I decided to computerize this system to solve the identified problems. I have introduced some new concepts and constraints while developing this system. This system can be used to automate the workflow of leave applications and their approvals. There are features like email notifications, cancellation of leave, automatic approval of leave, report generators etc in this Tool. This system will minimize the paperwork. Moreover, it will help management in decision making as they will get up-to-date reports. While implementing the system, I have used My SQL for the database and PHP along with HTML as the front end development tools. This dissertation illustrates all the work carried out during the each phase of the project. Each chapter consists of require a details in order to understand the project with the help of appropriate figures, tables and reports. E-LMS makes a change in the official environment of VTA by providing more efficient and effective system handling.
