Issue Date: 16-May-2015
Abstract: LG motors is one of a newly opened service station in Kegalle District. However the owner of this Auto Service Station moves with modern technology. Although well-organized manual system was used to run the business more effectively it had some difficulties while running this business manually. The service station and employees were managed with a manual file system. Therefore search ability was low. Also analyzing data was taken substantially longer time. There was a risk of being lost or misplaced. Manual database would be very vulnerable to a fire or other natural disasters. The main goal of the project was to improve the quality of the service provided by the client to their customers by transforming current manual business management system to an automated system. According to the literature, Rational Unified Process Model can be developed conferring to the client?s requirement with least errors and it was used as the best model to develop the whole system. The need assessment was done through secondary sources, questionnaires and informal discussions. For the web based design it was used programming languages such as PHP, HTML, CSS, AJAX, and Java Script and as Software it was used Apachi, XAMP Server, MySQL, NetBeans and Navicat. According to the client?s requirements the system was developed with two components named front-end and back-end . The Front end is comprised with FAQ facility, Inquiry facility, Help and Support and Maintenance chart. Viewing the information and registration for the booking is done in front end. The front end was used to attract customers for the booking purpose. In addition to that Back end is comprised with three levels of users; administrator, owner and normal user. The spare parts, reports, bike models, web site information management and booking are controlled by the administrator. The creation of system users and the all administrative can be managed by the owner. The replacement of spare parts can be managed by the worker. The objective of the project was achieved through this system and this can be re-modified for any type of vehicle service station or vehicle renting.
