dc.description.abstractNational water supply and drainage board was established in 1975 under act no 02 of the parliament of Sri Lanka. This Organization has been entrusted with the task of designing, construction and operating water supply schemes throughout the country. Currently almost all the major cities and towns large villages are provided with drinking water from the water supply schemes maintain by the water board. In addition it provides advice to local authorities in maintaining, constructing water supply schemes. The Management Information System (MIF) is built to overcome some of the problems and inefficiencies of the current manual system. This solution is built in a way to cover the overall administration processes of the water board, such as: Employee detail management, Stock Management, Employee, Billing and Report Generation. Highlighting part of the system is meter readers can update the system while they are reading the meter using mobile interface. The Management Information System has been developed according to the Rational Unified Process (R.U.P) framework which supports Object Orientation and iterative development. The System is a web based System because this System which was developed using PHP which was the core programming language, JavaScript & JQuery was used for client side validations. MySQL was used to manage the database and Apache web server was used to implement the system. XAMP development kit has been used throughout the project development. The web based Management Information System has been designed to fulfil t h e user and system requirements. The system would assist the management of water board Hatton to monitor and manage the processes. It could also help the board administration to work efficiently through this newly introduced web based System.en_US
