DREAM OFFICE SCHOOL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR ST.JOHN S GIRLS SCHOOL

Abstract

St. John s Girls school is a small developing school situated in the western province. It is a great tower of strength, specially in the field of education, the highest testimony at present for this great work was undergone in the past by the dedication of Mr. Cyril Arnold Jansz and his wife Amelia Jansz who are the founders of this school. St. John s Girls school had been using a manual system for school processes. During the past few years they have suffered with this manual system, when conducting their day today activities. It was a huge task to keep the efficiency with the existing manual documenting operations. Due to this reason they were unable to reach their targets most of the time. Managing personal details of students and employees, managing attendance details, managing payments and expenses, lack of decision making support and unavailability of timely reports were the main problems faced by the management of this school. Therefore the board of trustees in the school were looking for an electronic information system to manage their day today work successfully. The proposed system has provided many facilities such as student registration, teacher registration, assigning student classes, managing guardian details, handling daily student attendance, handling daily staff attendance, managing student payments and school expenses, generate reports to the right time etc. This software solution, Dream Office will mainly handle the problems and also cater the requirements of the school and help them to be efficient in their day today activities. Dream Office is a web based school management system. It has been designed and developed based on structured methodologies. Hypertext Pre-processor (PHP) is chosen as the main programming language with other supportive languages and technologies. Apache has been used as the web server and MySQL was used to handle databases. Dream Office is built on JetBrains PhpStorm 7.1.3 IDE.
