INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR Y2K PHONE SHOP

Abstract

Inventory Management System is important for any business organizations. It is vital important for organizations which their works/services such as orders for purchase, purchase of goods, control the stock and sale, etc. The Y2K Phone Shop is functioning as a private business organization. And this is one of the best leading Phone shop in Jaffna. This show room contains many of famous phone company s products and some important electronic items for phone. Here, a manual Inventory Management System is used by the shop. With that, the purchase orders are also prepared by the staff as manually at the needed times. This System handles the general stock maintenance and some initial accounting financial activities of the shop. Y2K Phone Shop to handle the day to day transactions such as sales, stock maintenance, orders for purchase and generating yearly, monthly, weekly and timely reports and preparing the summary details for periodic decision making by the administration of this shop. This dissertation systematically explains each of the distinguishing characteristic of the project mainly named as Inventory Management system for Y2K Phone Shop. The Goal of this project is to provide an efficient and effective system to the staff at the Y2K Phone shop to handle their daily Inventory management and some important accounting operations efficiently. This includes day-to-day sales, stock control maintenance, purchasing and generating monthly or weekly or timely basis reports and preparing summary details operations. This prototype system is completed with a graphics style user interface for the shop administrative staff to access the information they need. This system is designed using the structured analysis and designed techniques and developed using Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 2008. Microsoft SQL Server 2008 was used as the database Management System. This combination ensures a high portability to develop the system.. This Inventory Management System is essential to the Y2K Phone Shop to efficiently handle the phone shop s stock maintenance through re-order alert messages and its proper supplier wise purchase order reports and some basic accounting operations. The system also has the database backup and dynamic help facilities. The project should be lower in cost and completed within a scheduled period. And this is also achieved successfully.
