Abstract: Now a day s Inventory Management system is essential for everyone to do their work easily and correctly. Star Mobiles is a phone shop which located in Jaffna. They are using paper related or manual method for their day-to-day activities. As we all know the manual processing method is quite slow and time consuming for their daily activities. It s very difficult to get their month end or yearend stock in time. Therefore, the scope of this project is to deliver an effective and efficient Inventory Management system for Star Mobiles to handle their daily activities such as sales, purchase, stock maintenance, preparing daily, monthly, yearly reports etc. This system will help them for their improved customer service. The Inventory Management System for Star Mobiles is developed for desktop systems to do the daily transaction easily. The owner manages inventory data and customer details in a secure way. This software will provide in a simple and easy to operate user interface, which can be managed by any user without having prior in-depth knowledge of the computer system which will allow them to keep track of their sales and inventory, and provide a computerized billing system. Therefore, creating an Inventory Management System application with the basic requirement of low cost is essential for small organizations. This application will allow stores to manage customer details, keep inventory of all products and purchase information, in a very simple way. Here, Object Oriented Analysis was done to develop the system. Project and Dissertation Gantt charts were drawn before the project. Inventory Management System is designed using Microsoft Visual Studio.Net 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition. This combination ensures a high portability to develop the system. The success of a project is dependent upon an efficient and effective project management approach. A professional project management approach is ensured throughout the execution of the project. The following software development life cycle stages have followed for development. Requirements, Analysis, Design, Coding, Testing, Acceptance. This system is completely tested to guarantee a validated system.
