Title: Web Based Inventory Management System For National Water Supply & Drainage Board Dikwella Water Supply Scheme

Abstract: National Water Supply & Drainage Board(NWSDB) is a government side organization which provides purified drinking water all over the country. Many official operations in NWSDB are being carried out manually. There for now they are looking forwarded computerize systems to carry out their operations more effectively and efficiency. At the moment Dikwella Water Supply Scheme is maintaining a manual system for their inventory control operations with lots of paper works. It makes many inconvenient to management, staff & suppliers. Therefore Dikwella Water Supply Scheme branch is looking for a computer base inventory management system to perform their operations effectively. The inventory management system streamlines the storage processes and accounts for what has been issued to the beneficiary departments. The objectives of this process are Improve the accuracy and availability of information, reduce manual effort to maintain stores, time management, reduce delays and losses, Provide user friendly interface to employees for heddle operations easily. Scope depends on time, client requirements and recourses. Scope of this project can categorize into, requesting materials and item issues, monitoring re-order levels and dispose stocks, monitoring raising alerts for stock requisition, monitoring inventory receives and returns, accounting inward and outward, generation of various Management information system (MIS) reports. The project was run though Model, View, Controller (MVC) architecture using objects oriented techniques. The Coding was done using the Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) programming language using the NetBeans IDE 7.4. MYSQL was used to handle databases. Apache web server was used to run system. In addition, ArgoUML and Microsoft Visio were used to draw the Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams shown in this dissertation. Adobe Photoshop 7.0 was used to improve interface designs.
