Library Management System for Public Library - Mapalagama

Abstract

Library Management systems are widely used in libraries for their day to day activities. Mapalagama public library has been running on a manual system. But in modern world time is most valuable thing. One main problem face by library is time consuming tasks of managing books. This report describes the project development of library management system for manage the daily book transactions and manage the members in more efficient way. There are some goals of this project which are provided to the users. Lending and returning books to the user efficiently and correctly by reducing the work load of the librarian. A computerized library management system has been developing by including all activities in library management. Proposed system will help for book registrations and member registrations to maintain library catalogue. This system will also automate fine calculations and generating various kinds of reports. The purpose is to speed up the daily activities of the library. The project was implemented using Visual Studio 2010 as the IDE and SQL server 2008 is used as the database server. Coding was done using the C# programming language and the NET framework. In addition, MS Visio 2007 was used to draw the UML diagram shown in this dissertation.
