Abstract: The Jeya pharmacy is a private shop selling medicines and milk products in Jaffna. This is one of the leading pharmacies that deal with approved drugs, health care needs etc. This administration of the Jeya Pharmacy is effectively managed by the handling of all its activities manually. Maintenance of inventory activities, accounting and financial services are carried out effectively at present with paper work. This manual work is very difficult to manage their day to day activities. The manual work system is a complicated one some of the defects observed in this system are given below. Report generation is not done satisfactorily in the absence of technical knowhow unexpected errors occur when the manual system is followed. The manual system consumes more time and more manpower. The Pharmacy experiences various problems in the absence of an effective purchase and sales order system. Tracing records too poses difficult and time consuming problems. The suggested ISMS system could promote an efficient one in the management of Jeya Pharmacy. When Information Technology used to automate inventory and sales management, it greatly assists in accuracy, efficiency and consistency. The important aim of this project is that it accelerates speed and improves the performance of the Inventory and Sales Management System (ISMS). It helps in decision making by providing accurate information. It assists in identifying the existing inventory when placing purchase orders. The alerting of expiry dates is done by this system. It provides an effective system of sales particular purchasing detail, inventory maintenance and report generation. It is the main scope of the ISMS is to provide records of Analysis and design of the ISMS for Jeya Pharmacy. Then ISMS was developed using Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 2008 platform and SQL Server 2008 that was used as the Database Management System. Portability to develop the system is provided by this combination. Waterfall model were selected as methodology for the ISMS.This system is tested and confirmed one to a validated system. Finally, this project helps to Jeya Pharmacy to changes it effectively and efficiency. At the end of the project a standalone application that met the client requirements was successfully implemented and installed at the client computer.
