Management Information System For Ronako Enterprises

Abstract

Ronako Enterprises is a small-scale vehicle service provider, which was established in 2010, and one of the authorized spare part dealer of Associated Motorways (AMW) in the Kandy area. They expanded their operations by offering a wide range of vehicle services since 2013 May. As a result, all the office related tasks, current staff and current processors of the service station had to be increased. Since they used a manual system to do their day today activities and all the office related tasks, they had been facing many difficulties such as handling stocks, time wasting of retrieving historical data, inflexibility of data, data inaccuracy, and delay of management reports. The proposed automation system provides an overall solution for above problems. This solution is built-in a way to cover all the tasks related to purchasing, stock handling, Sales Management, Employee Management, Customer and Vehicle Management and Report Generation. Furthermore, Short Message Service (SMS) module and Reservation module with Website provides to keep the interaction between customers and the Service Station. Rational Unified Process (RUP) that is an iterative Software Development Process Framework has used as a Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) throughout the project with Object Oriented techniques. In addition, Unified Modelling Language (UML) was used for analysis and design. The project has implemented using Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 with C# programming language along with Crystal Reports 13.0.6, which supports Visual Studio as a report-generating tool to generate management reports. MySql has been used to handle the database of the system and it runs on Apache 2.4.4 Server. Dev Components DotNetBar which is a third party tool supports to Visual Studio have used to design attractive user interfaces. Software Ideas Modeler, which is a diagramming Computer Aided Software Engineering(CASE) tool, has used to design the Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams of the system. After successful completion of the development process, the entire system was tested among many system users and ensured that error free reliable software. Finally, Management Information System was delivered successfully to the client.
