Authors: Perera, W.D.K.
Issue Date: 16-May-2015
Abstract: The goal of this project was to discuss about the implementation of an On-line Examination Management System for The Institute of Western Music & Speech .The Institute of Western Music & Speech is a local Examining Body in Sri Lanka, conducting a record number of Examinations Island wide in Western Music, Speech and allied subjects in all grades including Diploma. Since the client was handling the examination entries manually they were facing several problems such as, issuing results at least within two weeks of the examinations, sending the acceptance receipt immediately to the teachers who have sent the applications by post. And also when they were writing receipts manually it took some time to do the calculations & stuff. So the client s customer had to wait for some time to collect the receipt. So this became a major problem for them. Therefore an online examination management system is going to provide an efficient and effective mechanism to automate those manual processes. The teachers of the institute can use this system for the online registration as a teacher of the institute, applying for the examinations online, results retrieval and many other activities. The institute staff can use this system for the student admission, index and registration number generation, subject combination selection, report generation, results handling and so on. The system analysis and design was carried out using object oriented system analysis and design methodology. Rational Rose was used as the case tool for UML modeling. The XAMPP was used for the development and implementation of the system. System should perform Functional and Non-functional requirements. When heading towards on these two challenges, system will be more user friendly. Accordingly I assure that this system will be able to create a very cost effective environment and ease of working/processes/procedures of IWMS.
