dc.description.abstractThe company World Express supports their clients to transport their cargos as their requirements. Load containers of the client's should be transport to client's place and empty containers should be transport to certain yards. The company have their own recourses to complete this job. Once they get a job they assign a vehicle ,driver and a cleaner to transport the container. If they do not have sufficient recourses to allocate for a job they get they should contacted an external transporter to complete that job. This all recodes must be maintain properly. They are still using a manual system to do the jobs what they get. As the result of this, some tasks are getting involved with some mess. Their expectation is to provide a good service to the customer. The major problem they realized with the manual system they used is the transport arrangement for a job is inefficient because former records of the fleet are not properly maintained. As well as they maintain their records in two places. Some are at the main office at Colombo and other part at yard at Bopitiya. Sharing files among two places also a problem when they handling a manual system. To solve this problem they are expecting a web based fleet management system and properly maintain their records which are now stored in files. Also main objectives of this project to provide a good solution to the vehicle management ,employee management and fuel management which are useful when assign recourses to a job . The proposed system was designed, using Unified Modeling Language which was also used to analyze the system. gliffy online UML drawing tool is used to draw the UML diagrams. Selected methodology to complete this project is Rational Unified Process. Object oriented designing techniques are used to design the proposed web based fleet management system. Hypertext Pre-processor PHP was used as sever side scripting language to code the system and Apache is the web server. To handle the database MySQL was used.en_US
