Title: WEB BASED PATIENTS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR AYURVEDA HOSPITAL - PALLEKALE

Abstract: Ayurveda means "the science of life". Sri Lanka is a country with a very old civilization and Ayurveda has been a widely practiced medicinal system throughout ages. Pallekale Ayurveda hospital is a government Ayurveda hospital which is situated in Kandy district. Patients are able to get variety of services through the hospital. Every day a huge crowd attends for medication. There are a lot of patients attending the hospital, and have a high expectations of a quick and an efficient service. The manual data entering process, which is currently being used to manage relevant information of both new and recurrent patients, slows down the operations of the hospital. Some information is duplicated in several locations which may create inconsistencies. Also it is necessary to avoid human errors while recording, copying and processing patient?s information. Displacement of patients? records and unauthorized access to records should also be avoided. The client of developed system, the Deputy Director of Ayurveda hospital, is in need of a proper computerized system to manage the patient records and to implement an official web site. The developed system includes web based patient management system and the official website. Web site provides information of the hospital and provides latest updates related to the hospital. The patient management system consists of several modules including OPD management module, ward management module, treatment management module, user management module, paying ward module, news module, doctor?s profile management module, backup module and report generation module. System was analysed and developed based on object oriented techniques. PHP, MySQL and Apache combination was used for the server side development and for the client side, XHTML, CSS, JQuery and JavaScript have been used. The dissertation contains all the activities which were employed during the project and it includes related figures and graphs for further clearance. After completing this project, system achieves functional and non-functional requirements of the client.
