dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this Inventory Management System is to present a uniform method of maintaining asset records for J/Hartley College. Included in this Inventory Management System are guidelines and procedures for inventory control that is congruent with school and Government policy and general accepted accounting procedures. Inventory Management System is most important for Government specially Schools for their works such as orders for purchase of goods, control of stock and consumption, etc. The Inventory Management System of J/Hartley College has been running on a manual system since its initiation but in the modern world where time is a precious commodity. In Jaffna most of the schools are using manual inventory system and they are not automating there operation as it needs more investment for the implementation and the maintenance of such system. Therefore, the scope of this project is to deliver an efficient and effective Inventory Management System for J/Hartley College. School handle the day to day activities such as stock maintenance, orders for purchase, and generating timely, weekly, monthly and yearly reports and preparing the summary. This system will help to give an improved customer service. This dissertation illustrates all the work carried out during each phase of the project. Each chapter will consist of required details in order to understand the project with the help of appropriate figures, graphs and reports. The software developed using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 programming Language, Microsoft .NET Frame Work and Microsoft SQL server 2008.en_US
