WEB BASED ASSETS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR KOTELAWALA DEFENCE UNIVERSITY

Abstract

Kotelawala Defence University is government defence university which is providing degrees for defence studies. As a defence university it has large amount of buildings and handling assets which are available there. At the moment Kotelwala Defence University is maintaining a manual asset management system. Kotelawala Defence University has to track fixed assets such as office equipment, desks and chairs, computers, vehicles and many more. Asset management often includes tracking the ownership details of assets, tracking the physical location of asset, managing demand for scarce resources and financial details. Because of using manual system for manage their assets details and financial information; as a result sometimes the management was facing problems with providing unreliable data and inaccurate data. The Web Based Asset Management system is built to recover some of problems of existing manual system. This solution provides management for overall asset management details regarding asset management, financial activities, supply management, reports and many more. The system Methodology used (RUP) Rational Unified Process. Unified Modelling Language (UML) was used for analysis and designing. The server-side scripting language Hypertext pre-processor (PHP) was used to built the system. Apache has been used as the web server. MySQL was used to handle databases. This Web Based Assets Management System has been designed to fulfil the user requirements and it will help the management to work efficiently on their tasks such as manage assets, manage financial details, supplier details and so on.
