Title: Distributed Daily-Attendance System for Vocational Training Authority

Abstract: The popularity of the World Wide Web and the usefulness of E commerce have led many organizations to improve their businesses using the new technologies. The Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka was established under the provisions of the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka Act, No: 12 of 1995 and, consists of 6 National Vocational Training Institutes and 22 District Vocational Training Centers is landwide. At present the Head Office situated at Narahenpita manually records the attendance of employees and maintains information collected. The proposed web based system will enable avoiding mistakes and lapses in the maintenance of attendance manually. Further the decision making of the administrators can be improved. The details of the employees can be found by administrators and the employees anytime, anywhere if internet facilities are available. The proposed system could easily track the daily attendance of the employees in distributed centers efficiently and effectively. This system has provided many facilities such as maintaining details of the centers, registration of employees, transfers of employees, resignation of employees, changes in designation, uploading attendance data from distributed centers to the head office, maintaining leave records, holidays and job details. Requested reports can be generated automatically for overtime, leaves, etc. The proposed system has been developed according to the Rational Unified Process and which support object orientation. The total system was implemented using PHP, Javascript, AJAX & HTML and C#.net. The database was designed in MYSQL. The project was successfully completed within the time period with the implementation of all the system requirements and finally the customer satisfaction.
