dc.description.abstractThe system is targeted to automate the Blood stock management process in the Base hospital Tangalle. Currently in base hospital Tangalle blood stock management is done using traditional book keeping process. A lot of record duplications, irregularities and unnecessary paper works can be found in current manual system. To maintain large data set securely and safely and finding a specific record cumbersome with current system. Even though the hospital keeps the blood donor information in records, currently there?s no active interaction with blood donors. The new automated system facilitates for management of blood collection by donations and receiving from other hospitals, keeping records of each blood units efficiently, record required information of each unit and components, keep tract of issuance, returns and accumulated stock. In addition to managing blood stock, system facilitates maintaining blood donor?s records for future use. System will consist of SMS alerting system for immediate blood requirements and broadcasting upcoming blood donation campaigns. Initially the system targeted only to host in base hospital Tangalle. But it has designed to work with multiple hospitals in the future by using the web technology. The system uses open source tools and technologies such as J2EE, Kannel SMS gateway and PostgreSQL database for cost effectiveness. The developed system is thoroughly tested to guarantee a validated system.en_US
