Title: GOODS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR DAYARATHNA STORES

Abstract: Dayarathna Stores is a retailer of grocery items and has been in the business for several years but all the day today activities are done manually which is really inefficient. So, the focus of this project is to enhance their business with the use of information technology introducing a goods management system. In other words it is required to develop a POS (Point Of Sales system) in order to carry out day today activities smoothly while focusing on the mutual benefits of the customer as well as the management. Goods management system(GMS) for Dayarathna Stores, consists of facilities such as supplier registration, item registration, user registration, category registration, GRN creation, Invoice generation, printing bills, handling good returns and reports etc. The system was developed is using OOSE and the modeling was done with the UML standards while the programming language was C#. The developed system is an standalone application and Microsoft .NET framework used to develop the system with Microsoft Visual Studio as the Integrated Development Environment (IDE). SQL server has been used as the database management system (DBMS) in order to store data in the backend. Adequate functional and integrated testing was carried out during the evaluation and user evaluation of the system was also done to get the feedback and enhanced accordingly. The system was developed in line with the objectives set initially and with the customer feedback and the output of the user evaluation, it can be concluded that the objectives set initially have been achieved.
