dc.description.abstract | With globalization, organizations are finding it more difficult to acquire as well as retain customers. Expansion in to other markets is also increasingly difficult due to the high costs involved in physically setting up an operation. A web-based eCommerce system is ideal for an organization to expand their market both locally and internationally whilst having the capability of accepting orders from around the world. This system is developed for Universal Fitness Center, a Fitness center which also sells fitness supplements & products. This eCommerce website concentrates on the business process that facilitates online buying/payments of products, order tacking, and customer management and also as an Information portal, whilst overcoming some of the problems and inefficiencies of the current manual system. This system was designed using open source web techniques such as PHP, HTML 4 & 5, CSS 2 & 3, MySQL & jQuery. The front end has been developed using PHP, HTML, CSS & jQuery and the backend in MySQL. Modern techniques such as jQuery & CSS3, HTML 5 are used to maximize the web accessibility. PHP which is a powerful server side scripting language has been used for server side scripting along with the Apache web server and MySQL which is a relational database management system. The developed system has been properly tested using a comprehensive testing procedure which ensures a high-quality system which has been designed to fulfil the user and system requirements. | en_US |
