WEB BASED DRUG MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR REGIONAL MEDICAL SUPPLIES DIVISION JAFFNA

Abstract

Stock management system is important for all government organizations. It is vital for organizations which are operating receiving, stock control and issuing day to day activities. The Regional Medical Supplies Division (RMSD) in Jaffna receiving drugs from Medical supplies division in Colombo and distribute that drugs to every government hospitals in Jaffna according to their requirements except teaching hospital Jaffna. The teaching hospital of Jaffna receiving drugs directly from Medical supplies division Colombo. The Jaffna RMSD is engaged with paper work. Therefore they are facing many difficulties while managing Details of annual estimate, closed expiry dated drugs in stock, drugs that are out of stock, delivery details and stock balance details. The RMSD management also faces difficulties record day to day drugs transaction, the drugs requirements, identify the fast moving drugs and minimum alert, and identify the non-moving drugs. So the management likes to save the time, decrease the work load and increase efficiency of work. The goal of this system is to provide web based drugs management system for RMSD of Jaffna without difficulties to manage their day to day activities. Especially this project the government money will not spend unnecessarily. Drug management system is used by the RMSD Jaffna this system is used to carry out the day to day stock details such as received drugs from MSD and issuing drugs to hospitals, generating reports about available balance, details of quality failure drugs, closed expiry dated drugs. This web based drug management System develops using PHP: Hypertext Pre-processor, which is a powerful server-side scripting language and Apache as the web server. MySQL was used as the database management system this combination ensures a high portability to develop the system. This developing system is thoroughly testing to guarantee a validated system. The management likes to save the time and decrease the work load by using this system. This system may help them to achieve their goal. This dissertation was talked about this system.
