However, the organization is facing many inefficiencies such as inability to identify availability of resources; inability to allocate resources in a well-organized manner; difficulty to workout estimated resource allocation, actual resource usage and further required resources; inability to work out planned project progress; Due to these issues the project manager will face more difficulties to meet project deadlines and to deliver project within the budget. The objective of this project is to develop a web based Project Management System to address the shortcomings of the manual procedure. Project management plays a vital role to deliver projects with expected quality and desired timeframe within the allocated budget while maintaining maximum customer satisfaction. Therefore the proposed project management system provides solution for project managers to fulfill their project management and monitoring activities effectively and efficiently. The initial requirement gathering was done mainly using interviews with the stakeholders. The gathered requirements are documented using Use Case diagrams and Entity Relationship Diagrams. A literature survey was done in order to understand the domain and to identify key business areas related to project management. The requirement analysis led to the fact that Web based system was required to handle all project management related operations. Depending on the requirements and outcomes of the literature survey, suitable design methodology and implementation techniques were identified. The system design was mainly based on Class Diagrams and the selected design pattern was MVC architecture. Joomla is the development environment because of open source PHP framework, its freely available and extensible features such as modules and components and its security features. Testing was carried out through unit testing and system testing was done after implementing all the modules based on pre designed set of test cases. Proper quality assurance process was in place to ensure the smooth functionality and user interaction with the system. Finally, the system was provided to the stakeholders for evaluation and their outcomes also applied to the project.
