Abstract: IDM Computer Studies is a well known educational Institute which provides different kind of IT related courses. IDM Computer Studies has over 1000 students and they have well-qualified, professional lecture panel. Until recent, there was no one whole system, which has capable of connecting all students, lecturers and parents, was a major barrier for them to stay ahead of rivals. The aim of this project is to develop a web based Student Portal System (SPS) for IDM Computer Studies. This system will help Client to administer student?s related information in efficient manner. Among the main functionalities of the system are managing records such as student details, subject list, course schedule and maintain attendance. It also enables the students to view necessary information such as subject list and online result. The proposed student portal system is a web based system intended to run in a web server according to client requirement. This will provide main functional supportiveness, report generation, data storing etc. Rational unified process has been used as the methodology for development of the system. This includes adopting and using Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) as a software technique. MVC3 entity framework is used as architecture to develop this system. The Project was be implemented using Visual Studio 2010 as the IDE and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 was used as database server. Coding was done using C# programming language. Asp.net razor used to design web pages. In addition www.gliffy.com online website is used to draw the UML diagrams shown in dissertation.
