Issue Date: 22-Jul-2014
Abstract: Weerarathne Movers is a well-known company in Minuwangoda area for supplying water. They currently own about ten water-supplying bowsers distribute water, mainly for production factories (Cargills, Rhino etc; ). Currently Weerarathne Movers does not have a proper computer based system to manage orders they get and manage transactions, process orders, calculate salaries of workers etc;. They use a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, which they are currently able to manage the processes up to some extent. Data should be manually entered in several locations on worksheets, which increase data redundancy and other problems The proposed solution is a web based system to ease up Weerarathne Movers current work flow and add additional features to overcome existing problems. so the system it self can process necessary data and produce reports after calculation/analysis which is currently done manually. Development process of the system is done by using web supported tools and languages. Object oriented methodology and iterative methodologies were used to develop the system. PHP is used as the development language and MySQL has been used as the DBMS. User Interface (UI) is completed using HTML 4.1 and CSS2/3. PHP is powerful free and open source server side scripting language and it supports Object Oriented programming since it s version 5. MySQL is also free and open source which is used in even large scale enterprise applications. TextMate is used to code the entire system and Adobe Photoshop CS5 is used to create web graphics.
