Web Based School Management System For St. Nicholas International College

Abstract

St. Nicholas? International College, the school which system proposed currently using a paper based system to handle their daily process. The existing system faces problems since it based mainly on manual actions. The school finds it is difficult to generate student?s report cards and handle student, parent and teacher up to date information. The proposed system will provide solutions for problems experiencing due to the present manual system. Few of the goals of the project are to reduce management cost of current file based system, minimize errors, and to simplify retrieval of student information. The main modules of the system would include student grades management, profile management, student fee management, report generation, administration and news upload. However the system would not facilitate time table scheduling, attendance management, payroll management, infrastructure management and library management. The project was implemented using Adobe Dreamweaver as the IDE and XAMMP package is used as the databases sever. Coding was done using PHP language. In addition, ArgoUML was used to draw the UML diagrams shown in this dissertation. At the end of this project, the web based school management system that met client requirements was successfully implemented and installed at St. Nicholas? International College, Negombo.
