Abstract: Dr. P.I. Pupulewatta has a dispensary which handles all activities of their dispensary manually. Daily, large number of patients came to the dispensary. So it is difficult to handle the clients manually with the time. Employees who work in the dispensary want to manage their work easily and effectively. Pharmacy officer faces many problems regarding managing the inventory of medicines. They want to know the available stock and lack of stock for their business purposes. Dispensary Management and Patient handling system is introduced to give a better service for their clients and manage employees and resources of the medical centre effectively with the world wide Information Technology. The system is designed and developed considering basically the requirement of Dodamgahahena Medical Center. Client expected features are patient registration, efficient transaction method for payments, drugs inventory control, summery reports and information screens. These facilities are provided in the system with user friendly screens to define the data, to update transactions and accessing the system from anywhere in the world by the authorized users, with appropriate security functions. Object-Oriented methodologies were used in designing and developing the system. MyEclipse was used as the IDE for java. JSP (java server pages), servlets were used with spring and hibernate frameworks used to develop the application. Microsoft SQL Server was used as the Database Management System and Apache Tomcat Server was used as the web server. This document explains how the design and developed software solution, would handle the above mentioned areas, and how it would be helpful to improve the efficiency and productivity and avoid the malfunction of the dispensary.
