Transport Service Management System for Smart Logistic Pvt Ltd Company

Abstract

Smart Logistic (Pvt) Ltd Company is a total solution provider for transport and logistics needs. The main transportation source of the company is Containers. They have significant amount of Containers as well as the customers. They currently maintain their services in manual manner which consists of large volume of book keeping and telephone calls. Due to the rapid growth of their cliental and the containers, now they are facing the problem of managing their resources properly and up to date. As barriers for new entrant is low, many logistic companies arrived recently to the market so that they have a large competition in front of them which they have to manage. To be in a healthy position for their business they need to give their maximum for the customers to fulfill their customer?s satisfaction. To gain competitive advantage, one fact is that they need to provide satisfied services to their existing customers and have to concentrate on new customer?s attraction. To reach such goal, existing manual system is not sufficient as company had identified some drawbacks within the existing system. To eliminate such drawbacks and provide a better service to their clients they require a new automated complete solution. The proposed system consists of 3-tier architecture and powered by Object Oriented Techniques. Currently the project is on the implementation stage of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). It described a process for planning, creating, testing, and deploying an information system. It is developed in Windows environment using Java programming language with the help of MyEclipse IDE. For back end, MySql is used and Apache Tomcat Server as the web server. Apart from that, to generate UML diagrams and ER diagrams, Enterprise Architect is used. This document explains how Transport Service Management System , the developed software solution, would handle the above mentioned areas, and how it would be helpful to improve the efficiency and productivity of the Smart Logistics Pvt Ltd. Finally I expect to provide user-friendly, error free product for the transport services activities and increase their productivity by the system
