Authors: Yasothar, A.
Issue Date: 22-Jul-2014
Abstract: Businesses are going through a major revolution where information technology takes the key player and legacy business models are getting outdated. With the rapid growth of IT infrastructures, paperless offices are born each day and business begins to rely on electronic data transfers. Amirthans is such an organization based in Batticaloa which requires such a change. Amirthans maintains a high business value among its competitors but still maintains the traditional business principles. Started as a small retail shop 20 years back Amirthans have thrived in to one of the largest and game changing distributors in Batticaloa. Amirthans MIS is an attempt to bring Amirthans Distributors to the expansion of IT world. Amirthans MIS will provide an automation system to manage the organizations day to day activities. Currently Amirthans depend on standalone systems provided by their respective suppliers. They are built for advanced enterprises and Amirthans staff find it hard to work with those systems. Built pooling the latest web technologies like Java, Jasper i-Reporting, Apche - Tomact, and MySQL 5.0 Amirthans MIS will tend to enhance the quality of service provided to its customers and suppliers. System adopts Model View Controller, Data Access Object paradigms to ensure extensibility and reusability. After implementing Amirthans MIS all the office administration, transaction management and payments management will be automated. Management can easily generate reports and take strategic decisions faster and effectively than the current manual system and standalone systems. Taking in to consideration the future of business Amirthans MIS can be extended to an e-Business application portal or even a business to business transaction system.
