dc.description.abstractAs a requirement of the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) degree program of University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) a project is to be submitted and in order to fulfill the above requirement, it is decided to develop an online recruitment system for a Sumchem International Pvt Ltd. It's a small scale company, willing to provide complete web solution for the clients. They provide services to the customers all over the country. Web based recruitment system is a growing approach that has given much attention in the recent past to reach distance between recruiters and job seekers. Many shortcomings were contained in the existing recruitment systems on the World Wide Web. They were unable to manage and handle recruitment processes, which was placed by users. There was lack of ability for maintaining profiles. Job applied or employer history was difficult to find out. Those were the major drawback in the existing systems. The main purpose of the proposed system is, to support specialized areas such as user registration, job search and detail management system. User profile handling also covered by the system to make system more useful to the users. This project attempts to address the need of customers by developing a system that can facilitate mainly search available vacancies, employers or job seekers, view their personal details, apply jobs or send to friend through the login profile and maintain customer profile with a history. It also eases the management work by facilitating to get a correct decision through management reports, handle history details by adding, deleting and editing user profile details and the administrator panel plays a major role in here because, users are unable to do recruitment process easily thorough the system. The proposed system is a wed based system that uses PHP as the main development language and HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and JavaScript are used as other sub languages. The development and operating system used in development Windows 8 and XAMPP were installed on it. By analyzing the problem domain of the current recruitment systems on the web the author has gained an opportunity to the development of the system to reduce communication gap between job seekers and employers as solution by fast growing web based technologies and depending upon to trend organizations have to recruit the most suitable recruiters. It will be valuable to Ejobmeets and it will gain marketing advantages to them by introducing new recruitment market all over the country. It will enhance the conventional communication between job seekers and employers as well as talking management decisions more easily.en_US
