Title: Web Based Defect Tracking System for Last Source Software Company

Abstract: The Last Source is a software company that use MS excel to bug report and maintains records, however it is hard them to share the data in multi user environment, there is lot of duplicate work, and chances of mistake. When the records are changed they need to update each and every excel file. And major problem is security; anybody can access any report and sensitive data, also hard to create summary report. Therefor this Bug Tracking System is develop to overcome the entire problem which they are facing currently, and making complete atomization of manual system to computerized system. This project is aimed at developing an online defect tracking system useful for applications developed in an organization. The Defect Tracking System (DTracker) is a web based application that can be accessed throughout the organization. This system can be used for logging defects against an application/module, assigning defects to individuals and tracking the defects to resolution. There are features like email notifications, user maintenance, user access control, report generators etc. in this system. The proposed project has been planned to be having the view of distributed architecture, with centralized storage of the database. The application for the storage of the data has been planned. Using the constructs of MS-SQL Server and all the user interfaces have been designed using the ASP.Net technologies. The project was implemented using Visual Studio 2010 as the IDE and SQL server 2008R2 is used as the database server. Coding was done using the C# programming language and the .NET framework. Visual Studio s own reporting tool was used for report generation. In addition, MS Visio was used to draw the UML diagrams.
