Abstract: Cab services are essential for times when someone does not have access to their own vehicle or is not privileged enough to have a friend or co-worker willing or able to drive them to their destination. The modern world complexity increases demand of Cab services for various travelling requirements. With high demand, The Sri Lanka cab service industry is growing in a rapid manner. To compete in the industry with customer satisfaction, the service provider should maintain fast, safe and secure service. SunCity Cabs is one of the many cab services in Sri Lanka, who provide vehicles for hiring and rental purposes and is based in the Kirulapone area. At present the company vehicle reservation management process practiced is a manual book keeping method. This manual process leads to customer losses due to there being up proper vehicle availability checking process, no proper rate updating method and various other timing and accuracy issues. This project aims to provide a comprehensive automated Vehicle Reservation Management System for SunCity Cabs Private Ltd; to help them to provide a healthy customer service while achieving their business goals. The system developed consists of a comprehensive standalone Application which handles Personal and Vehicle Details Management, Vehicle Viewing Facility, Vehicle Reservation Details Management, Vehicle Availability checking, Reservation Cost Estimation, Rate Configuration, Management Reports and user Controls. The presented system Blue print is based on the Rational Unified Process methodology and system design in Object Oriented Design manner with the help of Unified Modeling Language. The System is implemented using Visual Studio 2008 as IDE and Coded in C# with .NET Framework 3.5 and Crystal Reports used for as Reporting Tool. In addition SQL Server 2005 is used as the Database Server. The system was successfully tested with ten numbers of users and the system managed to achieve all the objectives and goals. Future recommendations for this project were provided in the dissertation as well. As a conclusion, this project was completed successfully and effectively.
