Resource Management System for Education Development Centre - Gurudeniya

Abstract

Education Development Center(CED) in Gurudeniya is a government institution fully fledge with sophisticated equipment to hold either residential or non residential training programs to enhance the quality of education in Central Province. It is the best place to integrate various resource personnel and training needed group to share the knowledge and the experience. It can function as the knowledge hub in Central Province. So far due to inefficient technical and management practices. CED has not reached its fullest capacity of usage. It is kept unoccupied for most of the days because of the cancellation of preplanned programs or due to the unaware of the public about this place which is ideal for any sort of training programs. Hence the major objective of the project is to develop a web based resource management system for CED to promote interaction between the institute and the clients and to make this interaction economical, fast reliable and attractive. The web oriented resource management system would help CED to automate their income and expenditure statements to enhance its prestige, to make the public aware of the annual plan of CED and to make reservations without any hindrance or delay. The resource management system was developed with PHP, Apache and MySQL. Adobe Dreamviewer, Adobe Photoshop, Firebug , StarUML are major development tools utilized in the Process. Finally a web based system was developed successfully to meet the requirements of the client.
