Title: MDF Furniture Manufacturing Stock Control System FOR ALUCO FURNITURE

Abstract: ALUCO Furniture produces MDF furniture such as office tables, TV stands, Ironing tables, cupboards, cabinets, bookracks, showcases and many more MDF products and delivers to the furniture shops island wide. Due to the growth of the business, need of a better and efficient management system emerged. It was decided to develop a software system for ALUCO Furniture. At present all the operations such as purchase raw materials, issue raw materials, schedule productions, deliver products, three types of wage calculations etc are done manually. This obviously is a tedious and time-consuming process and also severely limits its activities. The developed system aims to assist the management, to overcome this drawback by automating and enhancing the process with a better system solution in order to facilitate these functions. Therefore with this project it was endeavored to improve efficiency of raw material stock control process, product stock control process, order process, purchase process, deliver process for better management of the workforce was done. Worker evaluation and incentive system and also it would provide new services to the customers and dealers. Customers can view products and nearest dealers, dealers can check the daily updated prices and their due balance from the website. The methodology used for the development of the system was the Waterfall model together with Rapid Application Development (RAD). The complete modeling was done with the Unified Modeling Language (UML) standard using Rational Rose as the development tool. Standalone application was developed using by Visual Basic 6.0 language and the web site was developed by using PHP and Macromedia Dreamweaver. Microsoft Access 2003 as the database and Apache as the web server. Further, Data Environment designer and Data Report components are used for database connectivity and report generation. The system runs in the Windows operating systems environment.
