Abstract: Today?s world is moving more and more towards artificial environment. Thus, most of the manual systems have been shifted to automated system and the remaining manual systems are now being shifted. Info Tech Sys Institute is one of the leading Computer Education organizations in Sri Lanka. It was established in the year 2003 & today has grown as one of the largest Computer Training Centre. Having started its operations with a single computer, it has now grown into a reputed computer institute. Info Tech Sys Institute was keeping the details manually as hand register records and facing so many problems such as maintaining details of the student, outstanding payments, handling enquiries and scheduling classes. In the outdated manual system, there is no central repository on staff particulars. Retrieving data from the manual files may be difficult. Developing a computerized information system helps to reduce workload by automating most of the routine process. The Student Management System has been developed according to the Waterfall model which supports Object Orientation and iterative development. The proposed Student Management System for Info Tech Sys Institute is a web based system. It consists of a main interface to the students & staff and online user profiles to the students & staff. Main functional supportiveness, data storing, report generating are some of the features in the system. This web based Student Management System was developed using PHP, which is powerful server-side scripting language, and Apache as the web server. MYSQL was used as the Database Management System. This developed system is thoroughly tested to guarantee a validated system. This dissertation illustrates all the work carried out during the each phase of the project. Each chapter consists of require a details in order to understand the project with the help of appropriate figures, tables and reports. This system makes a change in the official environment of ITS by providing more efficient and effective system handling.
