Issue Date: 22-Jul-2014
Abstract: Decision making is an essential part of the functioning of any organization. To facilitate decision making in this ever-competitive world it is important that managers have the right information at the right time to bridge the gap between need and expectation. So, Management Information System is very important aspect in a business. It eases the decision making process by providing computer based automated solutions for both the management and the personnel involved in it. The system covers all aspect of order taking for buds supply, tea buds collection, Issuing to factories, buds payments from factories, Issuing and payback of advances and Employee salary. Those who provide tea buds for the collector are the suppliers of the system. The collector of tea buds is the client of the system. The collector is getting the buds payment from factories at the end of the month based on the category-wise buds weight. When the buds payment is made to the supplier, transport cost is charged and the rest of the amount is paid after deduction of any available advance for the month. The transport cost is varied from factory to factory based on the distance. When considering the two types of advances, in the grace period advance, the whole amount is paid back at once after several months of issuing of advance. In the installment advance, the advance amount is paid back from the following month onwards over several periods of months. There are several types of employees in the system. Such as, office staff, drivers, helpers and clerks. The payment for the employee is made at the end of the month based on their attendance. Furthermore, in the vehicle management process, assigning of vehicles for the collection of buds, maintenance of vehicles are done. The software process model of the project is Rational Unified Process (RUP) which is far-reaching and iterative approach to software development. Object Oriented System Analysis and Design Methodology (OOSADM) are used to model the system. Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams are used to draw the sketch of the system. The system is implemented by using the Microsoft Visual Studio.net 2008 IDE and the backend of the system is Microsoft SQL Server 2008. The built system provides the EKNT Associates to gain high performance, quick and efficient Management Information System.
