Abstract: Nowadays Event Management has become the most popular, highly marketable, profitable and interesting business area in Sri Lanka. This demand has created a huge competition among the event management companies in the event management field. Wickrama Art Centre is played a major role in traditional Gok Art and Event Management field in Colombo district. They are provided event decorations and other services for the all kind of Events in Sri Lanka. Weddings are the most popular event that is mainly used the Event Management. The Art Centre is expected the best solution to face the increasing competition in this field and increasing the number of customers. The company was managed the all works in manually. As a result, the administration was faced lot of problems like, delayed in event order handling, event reservation, data storing, communication and decision making due to unavailability of time. The web based Event Management System is planned to build to overcome some of the problems and inefficiencies of the current manual system. This solution is built in a way to cover the administration processes of the company, including Event catalogue and wedding packages maintain, online orders and event reservations maintain, Communication and Report Generation. System was developed according to the Rational Unified Process (RUP) framework and Object Oriented techniques used as design techniques. Hypertext Pre-processor (PHP) which is a server-side scripting language was used to build the system and MySQL was used to handle database. In addition, Unified Modeling Language was used in the analysis and design stages of the project. StarUML and gliffy online UML drawing tools were used to draw the UML diagrams shown in this dissertation. Finally, the web based Event Management System has been designed to fulfill the user and system requirements. And also the system has been developed helps to overcome problems existed earlier and provides an excellent solution as management expected.
