Web Based Student and Inventory Management System for Skyline Aviation

Abstract

Skyline Aviation Flying Training Academy is a privately owned flying training academy in Sri Lanka was establish in April 2006. Their pilot training schools and training centers are located in two different locations. They capture flying detail, aircraft details relevant to that fly and there inventory status. Currently they have manual file system for manage their operations. With branches and hangar located in different locations they have problems to manage information more efficiently and effectively. They need to manage student payments more efficiently and their inventory with up-to-date information. Proposed web based Student Management and Inventory Control System will support all the student management activities and inventory control process. Because of this system Skyline Aviation will able to manage and monitor branches and hangers in their head office. This web based system is available 24 hours so they can schedule some tasks. From this system they can inform students about their due payments, flying schedule and monitor student progress. This system supports all inventory activities. Finally system produces all the reports need for management. The system uses Model View Control MVC architecture and Object Oriented techniques. Unified Modeling Language (UML) was used for analysis and design. Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) used for server side programming. Apache tomcat used as server. MYSQL used as Database Management System (DBMS). Apache Struts 2 used as the web application framework. Hibernate used as the Object-relational mapping (ORM) framework and Google Guice used for Dependency injection, Quartz Scheduler used for scheduler tasks. Jasper reports Java Script used as client side scripting language. This web based system allow users to operate it either in Windows, Linux or Mac OS-X. Web based Student management and inventory control system will fulfill user requirements and system will support managers to make decision about inventory items and pilot training school.
