School Management System for Holy Cross College Payagala

Abstract

Holy Cross College - Payagala was established as the branch School of Holy Cross College Kalutara in 2004. At present most of the School management activities are done manually and it is difficult to continue the manual process as the school started to grow. Management of the School identified the need of a School Management System to perform their operations and administration work efficiently. My objective is to smoothen the management activities of the school by introducing a computerized School Management System and also to reduce paper work. The proposed system has divided into 04 main parts namely Student Management System, Staff Management System, System Reports, System Maintenance and Settings. The Student Management System is capable to maintain all the information of students starting from the school admission up to the school leaving certificate. It has facilitated parents to view their children s records via internet. The Staff Management system is capable to maintain all the information of Teachers and nonacademic staff starting from the date of appointment. It is also capable to manage leave and payroll of staff members. The System Reports is consists with set of reports which useful to the management of the school when analyzing data and decision making. The System Maintenance and Settings is consists with functionalities to maintain the entire system, parameter set up, etc. The proposed system is a browser based system (ASP .Net) and used Visual Studio 2010 (C# language) as the IDE and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 as the database server. Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 was used in reports designing and AJAX Control Toolkit for .Net 4.0 was used to increase attractiveness of the program.
