SALES AND OPERATIONS PLANNING (S&OP) SYSTEM FOR MMW WATER SYSTEMS (PVT) LTD

Abstract

MMW Water Systems (Pvt) Limited is a newly established Bottled Water Manufacturing Company in Galle District playing an important role in Southern Province, by providing pure drinking water to the public. MMW Water Systems produces 75,000 litres of purified water for daily consumption. They are committed to providing pure drinking water to the public via an environment friendly process, maintaining high standards of hygiene and giving good value by a solid customer care service satisfying customer needs. The distribution has to be perfect because they need to supply the water to the doorstep of the householders, on time, and take the empty container back. It's a service that caters to the needs of the customer on a daily basis, and has to be uninterrupted. To achieve on-time deliveries, the company has decentralised their sales and operations planning process. They ensure fairness and integrity in all their decisions concerning their people, their products, their customers and suppliers. MMW Water Systems (Pvt) Limited maintains a manual system with a lot of paper work and the use of spread sheets for their Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) functions. As a result, the management of MMW Water Systems faced problems of a manual system such as data inaccuracy, data redundancy and delay in decision making due to unavailability of timely reports and information. Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) System is maintained to perform their operations more effectively and efficiently. This system is intended to cover the some processes of the factory, such as: Inventory Control, Sales Management, Production Management and other administrative functions. The UML (Unified Modeling Language) is used in sketching the blueprints of the system. The evolutionary development with prototyping is used as the system development methodology and object oriented system design is used to design the system. For the system implementation Visual Studio 2008 is used as the IDE and SQL server is used as the database server and C# programming language is used as the development languages of the system.
